c- two ways, just like in English- “ceiling” or “calendar” ch
d- has a soft “th” sound like “with” between vowels and at
the end of words. Otherwise like English. e- like “made” or “egg”
f
g- like “go” before a, o, and u. Like “José” before e, i. h- (always silent)
i- like “feed”
j- like “José” (harsher than an English “h”)
k
l
ll- like “yet” or in some places almost like “jet”(or “did y’all”)
m
n
ñ- like “canyon”
o- like “obey”
p
q- like “can”(even though it is always followed by “u”)
r- at the beginning of a word it sounds like “rr.” At other times, it is a
little softer than in English. rr- (like a cat purring)
s
t
u- like “boo”
v- (like “b”)
w
x (or like the letter “s”)
y-If used as a consonant, like “yet” or in some places almost like
“jet”(exactly like “ll”). If used as a vowel, like “feed” (exactly like
“i”)
z- like “s”(except in Spain, where it is like a soft “th”)
